Try this: set up masking on the timeline using 2 shapes, track 1: triangle (size 100%), track 2: circle (100%). Now set up masking so track 1 creates a 'blanked inside' mask and track 2 responds to 'blanked inside' mask. Set up a key effect so the triangle on track 1 changes position from right to left. Make sure at some point the triangle exits the projection area.
When the triangle reaches the window edge the masking doesn't work anymore because beyond doesn't see a 'closed' triangle anymore...
