Skip every other point?

What is the best way to reduce points in a frame? Right now I have a shape from Beyond 3d, and it has so many points that it is flickering. Perhaps there is no easy answer to this, but is there an effect or similar that will let me draw let's say every second or third point when the frame is played from Beyond? Or another way to reduce the point count from Beyond 3d before making it a cue? I have tried several of the point-altering effects, but not with any real luck yet. :)

If you have already tried all optimization options provided by "Point filters" and it did not help, then you probably need to think about distributed scanning.
