says there is a corresponding section that goes over actions in more depth, after reading
more tutorials, I'm still not sure about 'manual' events and having trouble getting front action to behave
the way I think it will.

Are there any good links or tutorials that go over the effects actions better?
 
No but warm... under the effects in the advanced Image Sythesizer at the bottom there is another button called Action, it has a little pictogram of a graph to the left of it.

Please tell me how i can utilize this.

Can you post a screenshot? And are you certain that you are using the latest version?

Or is there in the advanced synth, an "Abstraction" active? // Which is another sort of image editor/generator.
