Allocation from Pangocard to Scannernumber etc...

Hi George,

There are two LD2000.DLL distributed with LD2000. The main LD2000.DLL that is installed is the "non-network DLL". With this DLL installed, it automatically assigns the "lowest serial number" to the "lowest scanner number". This is not subject to negotiation or adjustment with the non-network DLL.

Another LD2000.DLL can be found in the LD2000\Network folder. We call this the "networking version". This gives you additional capabilities very handy for networking, including the ability for the user to specify which QM2000 will be used for which scanner. You need to take a look in the LD2000\Network folder, and read the text file in that folder for additional information.

Technically, the "network version" of the LD2000.DLL could be the only DLL we ever need to distribute. BUT, there are some additional capabilities in that DLL that, franky, might scare neophytes...

At Pangolin, we are constantly trying to balance the trade-off between easy-to-use (for neophytes) software, and very powerful (for power-users) software. Often times we find there is no balance, and we must offer two completely separate ways of doing things -- i.e. like the difference between ST:Live! and LivePRO.

Best regards,

William Benner
