Flashback upgrade problems

Have been using flashback 3 for over a year now. Using firmware 1.38. On a number of occasions we have tried to upgrade the firmware to anything above 1.38. Every time the DMX stops working completely. Going back to version 1.38 results in everything working again.
When upgrading the firmware the media card is reformatted and all data is reuploaded with the new relevent upload program. When testing 1.38 all DMX channels from 1 to 10 worked fine. Used the same 10 DMX channels including 4 more for the new update from 1 to 14 with no output at all from any channel.
IDEAS ANYONE?
 
We have completely new firmware for the Flashback 3, for both Serial users as well as USB 2.0. The new firmware includes support for more DMX-controlled channels, including a new "color override" feature. And the new Flashback 3 Utility includes a sort of Live Control capability, so it can actually be used as a poor-man's laser controller complete with live control.
