is there a name for this cable? can we get a thicker / longer version? thanks, and is there a way to check the output of laser without paying an arm and leg to buy a reader? can i rent one?
 
Its a default USB A cable.

I believe you can use them till a length of 5 meter, depending the quality of the cable
