LC4D: Why was "Realtime rendering" removed?

I recognized that the option "Realtime rendering" is missing since
the LC4D-Plugin was updated to version 5.0.
In 4.5 it was still available, see attached screenshot.
Where has it gone?
It was working perfectly and flicker-free as long as the
preview window was also opened at the same time.

It was removed because it never worked. It was put there early on because it is a feature in LC-Max. In LC-Max it works, and has worked since the very beginning. But we found that in LC-4D, there is a problem. Eventually it slows down your whole computer, so it was removed.

I think we did some translation-related work recently, and this check box became visible again (lets say accidentally). When I noticed it I told Cathleen to hide it again.

Cathleen also looked into this more closely, to see if Real Time Rendering could be supported in later versions of C4D, but it turns out it still can't. The way C4D was written, we don't think this will ever work.

If you want real time rendering, there are two options:
1) Get 3D Studio MAX and Lasershow Converter MAX
2) Wait a while and we will be releasing our own 3D program that has real time rendering. (But this will only be an option for LD2000 PRO users.)

Best regards,

William Benner
