just updated to r23, not seeing LCD4 available in the render settings, is it supported?

Try copying the LC4DBeyond folder of Cinema4D along with all the files to the new version folder.
For example from here
C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R19\LC4DBeyond
to here
C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R23\LC4DBeyond
Please, let me know if your question has been resolved.

After installing Beyond the latest version of the LCD4 installer (LC4DBeyond_Install.exe) will be located in the folder C:\BEYOND40\InstallSupport\LC4D_Install

Cinema 4D is a very powerful software but it’s inbuilt render sucks, you will have to learn pro render or use a third-party renderer like redshift or octane. Blender has Cycles, a path-traced good renderer for free.
I have worked with cinema 4d for a long time and i think that if you want to do personal projects with ease you might wanna go with blender but if you want to work at a company they will most likely use cinema 4D.
I personally use a XP-Pen Deco 01 V2 ( https://www.xp-pen.com/product/461.html ) drawing pad , the tablet is just overall superior as in input device for both accuracy as well as long term use. Add pressure and angle sensitivity, and that alone makes it better than the mouse.
