Preview - polygons or lines?

Some previews (in the top right window) show up as lines / solid polygons radiating from the centre. But whenever I create a cue, I only get wireframe lines representing the shape I drew. Can this be controlled?
 
This can be controlled by the "preview projection mode".

Go to settings >> project zones, Select the desired projection zone and click on the "preview" tab.

When you open the preview tab, change the settings from "View as laser graphics" to "view as audience scanning beams".
Here can you control all your zones with there preview position, location, beam diameter, projector position and of course the preview mode.
