time and date error?

I have a friend running (or trying) to run quickshow at event today. His laptop this morning is producing an error when trying to run quickshow that is saying "The time and date on your computer are incorrect and quickshow will not be able to run" (or close to that) then it shuts down. The time and day are correct. Anybody heard of this? I'm letting him borrow my laptop so he can do the show, but would rather would like to use his own.

Dear Greg,

We spoke about this on the telephone and were able to get you up and running.

To re-cap the situation:

The date on your computer was indeed set incorrectly. It was set to the year 2005, which was of course before QuickShow was even developed...

The solution was to correct the date on your computer and then (as an optional step) delete the QS.INI file which may have picked up incorrect settings as a result of the incorrect date.

Once the date was corrected (and optionally INI file deleted) then QS was able to run fine.

Please let us know if you need anything else, and we're always happy to help.

Best regards,

William Benner

Hi,
And I have the same problem. Try to change your computer's date, delete QS.INI. But the problem remains the same. :( Why? How I now can make a shows?

Hi everyone, yes indeed, there is an issue with Quickshow.

this temporary solution should help you till the final fix is ready:

Delete QS ini file -> set computer date 3 days back -> start quickshow

Where working very hard on this and should have the fix ready within a few hours.

As soon as I have the download link, ill post it here as well.

Fellow Laserist,

This morning several clients reported a problem to us, whereby QuickShow
reports that the computer's clock is incorrect and QuickShow will not
operate.

Immediately upon hearing of the problem, we have investigated it and traced
the problem to a part of the code developed five years ago. Once we
identified the problem we were able to change that part of the software, and
we have prepared a new version of QuickShow. Although this problem only
affects some users, we are strongly recommending that all QuickShow users
download and install the update as soon as possible.

The new version, which is called Version 2.5, is available absolutely free
for download from our web site right now. The download link is here:
http://fs3.pangolin.com/Setup_QS2.exe

In addition to solving the problem reported by some clients, the new version
offers additional user interface languages, better handling of tutorial
videos, and a few other improvements.

We are sorry for the inconvenience, and we have acted as quickly as we
learned about this problem.

I have the same problem and it won't clear. I've changed the date and time, even deleted the program and reinstalled it. Still doing the same thing. How can I fix this?

Please update Your quickshow version to the latest one that is available from our website.

This will resolve your problem.
No need to change the date.

Sorry Bob, but could it be that the latest version as shipped with your FB3s a couple of months still have this bug? Can't seem to run the software. Am under time pressure. :/

There may indeed be older discs out there with the old installer on them. We changed all the discs in the units that went through our office since the issue appeared but I am guessing there are many QS packages out there that were enroute to distrubutors when this occured and the discs did not get exchanged. I would use the link provided above or this one to update to the latest version: http://www.pangolin.com/_Files/Setup_QS2.exe

Bump... Just because there seem to still be some install discs out there in new QuickShow packages that still have the old installer on them.

If you buy a new QS package and get an error concerning the time/date of your computer when you run QS, please use this link to update to the latest version and resolve your issue: http://www.pangolin.com/_Files/Setup_QS2.exe
