Bob,
Thank you for the help. I've uploaded into the Pangolin Cloud the Midi Map "Akai APC40 MKii Dark Mode Profile"
I was able to recolor the majority of the buttons except for 1-6 on the secondary Grids. I could modify the colors for some, but could not find the call ups for Toggle Muted Zones by BPM and Manual and Master Pause etc. I'd like to give them a Static Value of 7F (Dark Orange) and an Active of 17 (Dark Green)
Item ID 6255 Category MIDI Profile
Bringing back this from the dead, since I just discovered it
I've been working on this problem at our planetarium as well. (DeAnza College)
These are the dimmest colors available:
MIDI (Hex) (#24 bit color in Hex)
01: Dimmest Grey (#1E1E1E)
07: Dimmest Red (#190000)
0F: Dimmest Yellow (#191900)
17: Dimmest Green (#001900)
1B: Dim Green with slight blue (#001902)
1F: Dim Cyan (#001F12)
23: Dimmest Green with blue (#001912)
27: Dim Green / more blue (#001019)
2B: Dimmer Green/ more blue (#000819)
2F: Dimmest Blue (#000019) overall dimmest setting
37: Dim Red/Blue (magenta (#190019)
3B: more red less blue (#220013)
The blue LEDs are dimmest, the green mid, the red are way bright even on the dimmest
I got all these from the APC40 documentation
There are a few that are slightly brighter, but most of the others are just way brighter.
Unfortunately, even the dimmest adds up to really bright if they are all lit.
The non-color changing buttons are bright orange with no way to reduce.
Our solution for a while is to have a neutral density film laid across the buttons, taped in place. You just push through it. It's mildly annoying but when you get going you don't really notice it. I was hoping to do away with it, but alas, still too bright.
If I owned my own APC I'd take it apart to see if there is a way to adjust the global brightness electronically. Probably not though and definitely not if it means changing all the resistors. Maybe just putting some neutral density nail polish on each of the individual LEDs would work.
PM me about your planetarium. I'm interested in where and what you're doing.
I've been really getting into pangoscript and customizing my APC40 for how I run the shows.
