Trigger Effects in Beyond-Timeline

Dear Pangolin Enthusiasts,
I'm wondering what is the smartes solution to trigger effects on 'sound-effects' within Beyond-Timeline. In particular I'm creating a show and would like to 'visualize' gunshots within the chosen audio-file with a beam-cue. Because there are many shots it's pretty time-consuming and not always 100% accurate to adjust the cues manually, I assume there is a more professional way to create such an effect (e.g. control brightness of cue using the internal FFT-capabilities of Beyond).

Since the shots are erratic the BPM-function doesn't work in this case.
